It was one Friday Afternoon when I decided to go back to Butuan City after immersing and doing my research in the Manobo Community of Esperanza, Agusan del Sur, I was riding on a tricycle when we came across with farmers who were at the time tending on their crops, then I noticed on a tree some farmers were burning something, at first I didn’t realize what it was until we came closer. In so much astonishment I asked the driver if I am actually looking at a dog literally hanged and on fire. And so after I finally confirmed my speculation about what I just witnessed. I asked the driver to pull over, and went towards the farmers at the moment grilling the dog.

RHON:
Manong, ero na?
(Manong, is that a dog?)

FARMER1:
Oo ma’am, para pang konsumo sa mga nag uma
(Yes Ma’am, for the food of those who are farming.)

and he pointed the direction of men tending their crops. Read more…
