I have been planning to write a post about how to use Ditto software considering that there are not quite enough resources and tutorials about the software. Ditto is an open source extension to the standard Windows clipboard. It saves each item placed on the clipboard allowing you access to any of those items at a later time. Ditto allows you to save any type of information that can be put on the clipboard, text, images, HTML, custom formats. Features include easy to use interface, search previous copy entries, saves any type of information that can be put on the clipboard, keep multiple computer’s clipboards in sync, data is encrypted when sent over the network, send individual clips to other computers, accessed from tray icon or global hot key, assign hot keys to specific copy entries, checks for updates automatically, select entry by double click, enter key or drag drop, very handy tool, paste into any window that excepts standard copy/paste entries, and display thumbnail of copied images in list.

How to Use Ditto Software?

Scenario:

Jane is drafting a research work on a Microsoft Word document and at the same time doing some research in the internet. she wanted to quote a phrase from a certain site into her paperwork, so she would then copy the entire phrase and paste it into the word document she is working on. She hit on the “CTRL”+”C” and “CTRL”+”V” keys and she was able to quote the phrase in her drafted work.

Jane continued doing a research and found a certain line she wanted to copy into her paperwork again, and right there she did the same thing. The thing now is that Jane would want to also to integrate all of those items she copied from the internet but the thing is she doesnt want to scroll over the documents to copy and paste it again. So this is where a Ditto software can be of advantage for her.
